Christmas Peace (HD) - Christmas Instrumentals with Winter Scenes

Earlier this year, the most popular video on my youtube channel was blocked worldwide (apart fro the United States) because of 14 seconds of visual content owned by BBC Worldwide. I have now re-posted a copy of this very popular video without that content. For those of you who enjoyed listening to it in previous years, you can now once again access this Christmas instrumental music with winter scenes.


By far the most viewed video on the Moonlight Chill channel is "Christmas Peace - Relax With Instrumental Christmas Music And Winter Scenes". At this time of year the Channel views take off, primarily thanks to this video.

The video is a compilation of classic Christmas instrumental music set to scenes of falling snow and wintry beauty. The music is music that reminds me of childhood Christmas times and many fond memories. It was made for my own pleasure and I certainly did not expect it to have been so popular, with (currently) over two million views on YouTube. I hope it brings as much Christmas joy to all of those who listen to it, as much as it did to me in making it.





The video was uploaded just before Christmas 2012, and in the two years since then it has achieved two and a quarter million views, over 5000 likes, and helped to gain 5000 subscribers to Moonlight Chill.

Relaxing Fireplace And Music For Christmas

Time to share another video with you all that was shared with Moonlight Chill on our YouTube channel. Continuing with the Christmas theme, this video was shared with us last year by JustRelaxVideos.

The video is a collection of Christmas and seasonal music set to the scene and background noise of a roaring and relaxing fireplace.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Winter Meditation (Shared Video)

Throughout December, I will try and get through as many of the Christmas videos that have been shared with Moonlight Chill on YouTube and post them on here. Some have been shared directly through Moonlight Chill's YouTube channel inbox, while others have been posted as comments on the Christmas Peace video.

The first video to share is one that was shared through the inbox last Christmas. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Winter Meditation" is a beautiful, instrumental version of the traditional Christmas Carol, set to winter scenes.

The next video that i am posting, from those that have been sent with me to share, is one highlighting an album release from 18 months ago. It's a little delayed, but better late than never. Normally I wouldn't post a video that is an advertisement for an album, however something about this one caught my ear and so I am passing it on.

The album showcase original compositions by both leaders exploring the difficult TRIO constellation and ranging influences from post-bop, avant garde, contemporary jazz, as well as South American rhythms.

Isle Of View - a music video poem by duvid

Time to share another beautiful video that was shared with me on Moonlight Chill. This video is a very clever music video poem. The creator has chosen a beautiful and relaxing piece of music and set it to amazing shots of nature and the words of a beautiful poem.

Just as with the previous shared video, this video was sent to me over two years ago, and as with the last one I can't believe that it has so few views. It deserves far more. Please take a look and then have a look around Duvid's channel.

I would like to thank Duvid for sharing this video with me, and through it his channel. I only wish I had looked earlier as it really is a beautifully calm and relaxing piece of music, as are the others on his excellent YouTube Channel.

Peaceful and Relaxing Harp Music

As promised, I am starting to work my way through videos that have been sent in for me to share, and then sharing the ones that fit in with the Moonlight Chill channel on this blog.

This first video was sent to me over two years ago by the YouTube channel Peaceful Music, and is a beautiful and relaxing piece of music featuring a harp.





Amazingly, this video has still not reached 5000 views after two years, so please take the time to listen and visit the channel, where there are other similar videos to view.

I will continue to share more videos that have been shared with Moonlight Chill over the coming days, so keep coming back to see more wonderful instrumental music.

Sharing Shared Videos

Moonlight Chill was created out of a love of good music and the desire to share the music I love with a wider audience. At no point did I ever expect that audience to be anything more than a handful of people who stumbled across my channel. The fact that thousands of people have now subscribed to the channel, and that the channel now has millions of views, still astonishes me. It is good to share my musical tastes with others - as eclectic as those tastes are.

One of the privileges of having so many subscribers is that when I do produce new videos I have a ready made audience to view those videos and to get the ball rolling by recommending those videos to friends on YouTube, Facebook and Google+. 

Anybody who produces a new YouTube video faces an uphill battle to gain even a handful of views simply due to the number of new videos that they are competing with. One of the methods that some people use to publicise their new videos is to share them with other channels in the hope that they will enjoy the video and then help to spread the word. Moonlight Chill regularly receives requests to share new videos with subscribers but, as someone who notoriously neglects keeping up to date with inbox messages and comments, I have not done anything about these requests to date.

I have decided to start posting some of the shared videos on this blog to provide a helping hand to other video producers. I wont be able to post every video shared with Moonlight Chill, nor would I want to. I will try to strike the right balance between keeping the shared videos within the context of the Moonlight Chill channel, while also including new ideas and content to spread the boundaries of what is offered.

I wont make any promises as to how often I will post shared videos. Moonlight Chill is a labour of love carried out in my (limited) spare time. For the most part it is a selfish indulgence that I use to enjoy listening to music I love rather than spending time creating or posting. However, I will do my best!

Another One Bites The Dust - Video Blocked

Sadly another video has been blocked on YouTube - 'Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber: Relaxing Grass In the Wind.'

Samuel Barber's piece, performed by the New York Philharmonic, has been blocked by the copyright holders in every country. It is possible that at some point they may make it available again as the video has not removed, simply blocked in every country. As ever, I respect the copyright holder's right to do this, but as the video was not monetized (as none of Moonlight Chill's videos are) it is a shame that they did not choose to simply monetize it themselves as other artists do.

Moonlight Chill always encourages all listeners and viewers to support musical artists by purchasing the original pieces, and by leaving open the possibility of those artists monetizing videos to earn an income from each viewing on Moonlight Chill.

We hope to add more music to our channel soon to replace the two pieces recently removed. Thank you for your continued visits and support.

Two Million Views On YouTube

In recent weeks Moonlight Chill has reached two new milestones thanks to the continued support of everyone who visits the channel, and it is time to say a very big thank you!

The Christmas Peace video now has over two million views on YouTube. Christmas Peace is a collection of instrumental Christmas music set to images of falling snow to help get everyone into the festive mood. With such a tiny fraction of videos on YouTube hitting one million views, I was amazed that Christmas Peace achieved that milestone last year. It is even more remarkable that you have all kept coming back again and again to help the video reach two million views before this year's Christmas season is even in full swing.





Thank you for continuing to listen to Christmas Peace, and I hope that you are able to get many more hours of listening pleasure out of listening to the relaxing Chritmas instrumentals throughout this year's Christmas celebrations.

As well as Christmas Peace reaching 2,000,000 views, Moonlight chill also reached 2,500,000 total channel views recently. Thank you for your continued support of the Moonlight Chill music channel. It is very much appreciated!

Video Removed: Air On The G-String, Bach

Sadly, Moonlight Chill has had its first video removed from YouTube. Air On A G-String, by Johann Sebastian Bach, has been removed due to a copyright claim with regard to the visual content of the video. Technically speaking the video is still on YouTube, but it is now blocked worldwide meaning that nobody can watch it. This may seem like a subtle difference but it is an important one as it means that no strike has been recorded against the YouTube account - for which we are very grateful.

Having videos removed is always a risk when you create compilations of other artist's work, and ultimately it is the copyright holder's right to choose where and when their material appears. Moonlight Chill never monetises its videos, which means that all adverts that appear on the videos go towards providing income for the copyright holders. Moonlight Chill is not (and never will be) a money-making venture. Our sole purpose is to share our love of beautiful music and beautiful imagery.

As the audio content of Air On The G-String was not subject to the same content blocking we will be hoping to re-upload the piece very soon, set to different visual content. As soon as it is uploaded we will update the blog so that you can see the video as soon as it appears on YouTube.

Brian Crain - Song For Sienna

The videos created at Moonlight Chill are intended to bring you the most beautiful instrumental music, along with stunning pictures, all to help you relax and chill out. Actually, the very first video was created for me to enjoy and was uploaded so that I could enjoy it whenever I wanted, wherever I happened to be. I created it because I loved the music, and so that very first video contains some of the music that I most enjoy personally. It turned out that others enjoyed the video too though, and so here I am still creating and posting!

It is fitting then that the very first musical piece on that first video is such a beautiful composition. I had no idea where I was going when I began that first video, so the natural place to start was with the piece I enjoyed listening to most at that time - Brian Crain's 'Song For Sienna.'

As with so much of Brian Crain's work, 'Song For Sienna' is a wonderful combination of piano and cello that flows so beautifully, and so naturally, that you cannot help but find your mind at ease within a few moments of the music starting. 'Song For Sienna' is one of those rare works that manages to fit your mood, no matter what your mood.

The pictures that accompany 'Song For Sienna' on the video are all pictures taken of, or near, the village of Mow Cop on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border, a place with many happy memories for me. As with so many other things in life, it was a place that I never fully appreciated the beauty of until it was slipping from the present into the past.

Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber: Relaxing Grass In the Wind

Adagio for Strings is a work by Samuel Barber, arguably his most well known, arranged for string orchestra from the second movement of his String Quartet, Op. 11.

Barber finished the arrangement in 1936, the same year that he wrote the quartet. It was performed for the first time in 1938, in a radio broadcast from a New York studio attended by an invited audience, conducted by Arturo Toscanini, who also took the piece on tour to Europe and South America. Its reception was generally positive, with Alexander J. Morin writing that Adagio for Strings is "full of pathos and cathartic passion" and that it "rarely leaves a dry eye." The music is the setting for Barber's 1967 choral arrangement of Agnus Dei. Adagio for Strings can be heard in many TV shows and movies.

Nature has a wonderful ability to relax the mind, and so I found the simple images of grass blowing in the wind to set this music to. The gentle swirl of the grasses, swaying back and forward seems to turn into a dance as music begins to take over.

Air on a G String - Johann Sebastian Bach (arranged by August Wilhelmj) - Set To The Northern Lights

Air on the G String is August Wilhelmj's arrangement of the second movement in Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068.

The original orchestral suite was written by Bach for his patron Prince Leopold of Anhalt some time between the years 1717 and 1723. The title comes from violinist August Wilhelmj's late 19th century arrangement of the piece for violin and piano. By transposing the key of the piece from its original D major to C major and transposing the melody down an octave, Wilhelm was able to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string.

I have always been fascinated by the beauty of the Northern Lights and felt that this haunting piece of music perfectly captured their mystery and elegance.
